У науковому виданні на основі аналізу документальних джерел, напрацювань вітчизняних і зарубіжних дослідників розкрито аграрні відносини в Україні від найдавніших часів до початку ХХІ ст. Особливу увагу приділено питанням змін у сільському господарстві під впливом глобальних економічних трансформацій, показано вікові зрушення у середовищі селянства, його благополуччі.
