GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT
THE PUBLISHING HOUSE

Publishing activity is an effective way of disseminating the results of scientific research on the development of the agroindustrial complex among the scientific community and agricultural producers both in Ukraine and beyond its borders. It is an integral part of promoting the results of the scientific achievements of Ukrainian scientists.

The State Publishing House “Ahrarna nauka” of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine was established per the resolution of the Presidium of the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences, dated December 18, 2003 (Minutes No. 22); it specializes in publishing scientific literature and periodicals aimed at highlighting the issues and informing about the state and achievements of the agroindustrial complex and agricultural science of Ukraine.

Currently, the Publishing House publishes scientific monographs, written by the leading authors in the field of agricultural science as well as specialized periodicals: monthly scientific and theoretical journal “Bulletin of Agricultural Science (“Visnyk ahrarnoi nauky”) (Nos. 1–12); scientific and informational bulletin of completed scientific developments “Agricultural Science to Production” (“Ahrarna nauka — vyrobnytstvu”) (Nos. 1–4); abstract journal “Agricultural Complex of Ukraine” (“Ahropromyslovyi kompleks Ukrainy”) (Nos. 1–4); a journal in English “Agricultural Science and Practice” (Nos. 1–3).

The main direction of the Publishing House activity is the publication of fundamental scientific monographs of Ukrainian scientists, textbooks, dictionaries, and methodological recommendations.

The activity of the Publishing House is aimed at prompt informing the domestic and foreign society about the state, development, and achievements of Ukrainian agricultural science. First of all, it involves preparing and printing scientific publications in the following areas: rable farming, melioration and mechanization, crop production, animal husbandry, veterinary medicine, agricultural economy and food supply, and scientific support for innovative development.

The theoretical and applied elaborations in different spheres of the agrarian sector have been highlighted in the publications, prepared and printed by the Publishing House throughout the years of its activity. A significant number of published books are dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, tracing its path over this period, summarizing the activities of agricultural scientists, and drawing conclusions in historical and practical terms. These works include: “NAAS. Presentation”, ”National Academy of Agrarian Sciences. Personnel 1990-2021”, ‘Golden Pages of Agrarian Science of Ukraine’, ‘Catalog of Innovative Developments of NAAS’, ”National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. Scientific Institutions”, ‘Livestock of Ukraine: State, Problems, Ways of Development (1991-2017-2030)’, and others.

In accordance with the resolution of the Presidium of the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences of November 20, 2003 (Minutes No. 20), in 2004 the Publishing House published a number of publications on the scientific basis of agro-industrial production in the Steppe, Forest-Steppe, Polissya and Western regions of Ukraine.

Each of these books presents natural, climatic, economic, ecological, and social conditions of agroindustrial production in the country. They highlight the current state of the situation and perspectives on the economic development of reformed enterprises in the agroindustrial complex of Ukraine. They also contain scientifically grounded recommendations for such matters as enhancing soil fertility, increasing the performance of plants, and obtaining sustainable gross yields of the main crops; intensive animal breeding and strengthening the forage supply; providing the processing industry with raw materials of plant and animal origin; further development of the processing and material-technical foundation of the agrarian production using modern achievements of science and technologies, and the innovation modules of the development in the industrial sphere.

The implementation of the proposed system of developing the agroindustrial production of a specific zone will provide the possibility to transform the current agrarian sphere of the country into a leading export-efficient sector of the economy, improve the well-being of rural and urban population, and its employment in the sphere of agricultural production.
